ICF Sacramento Ignite Program

ICF Sacramento is making an impact to move the world forward through our participation in a global project called Ignite: Engaging Coaching for Humanity and the Planet. This initiative is a professional coaching program that focuses on the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals ("UNSDGs").

Through Ignite, volunteer coaches from our chapter have established six-month pro bono coaching engagements that serve leaders of social change.

How will participating as an Ignite coach benefit you?

  • Gain exposure to a diverse leadership population: help build capacity in your client, accelerating their impact, that in turn will generate impact for humanity and the planet.
  • Coach more: earn up to ten pro bono coaching hours towards your ICF credential.
  • Coach better: integrate best practices with the forms and processes provided for onboarding new clients, asking for testimonials, referrals, and converting to paid coaching.
  • Coach connected: be a part of the Ignite coach community with monthly Supervision & Best Practices zoom sessions.
  • Credentialed coaches earn 1 Core Competency Continuing Education Credit per Supervision & Best Practices session.

What can you expect?

  • Provide six to ten 50-60 min. coaching sessions bi-monthly over a six-month engagement.
  • Determine mutually agreeable dates and times for phone or video coaching directly with your client.
  • Coaching opportunities for both ICF credentialed coaches and those working toward an ICF credential.

Share any surprising good or bad effects you noticed while meeting your coaching goals?

I went from unclear on my next steps to very clear on my next steps.

My coach was great, and I really appreciated her. She did a great job taking a holistic approach that helped me determine the best outcomes. She saw me for who I am and truly understood me. I met my goals and thoroughly enjoyed my coaching experience.

…Gave me a different perspective to work and school discussions! This was a positive outcome that was highly impactful!

How has coaching helped you make a positive impact on your community?

I discovered the answers I needed to drive change in my work culture.

Coaching has significantly helped me make a positive impact in my community. Through personalized guidance and a holistic approach, my coach empowered me to identify and leverage my strengths, set clear goals, and develop actionable plans. This newfound clarity and confidence have enabled me to take on leadership roles and advocate more effectively for community initiatives.

It helped me balance starting a new role as a young professional in a confident way. [My Coach] helped me leave our meetings feeling assured and empowered to have difficult conversations and navigate new spaces.

Share any surprising good or bad effects you noticed while meeting your coaching goals?

I realized that I am in control of how I respond to situations and that I can be my own self saboteur.

I was surprised by how caring and genuinely supportive a stranger was. They were genuinely interested in helping me.

My coach was easy to talk to and made things easy for me to understand. I was surprised how helpful it was to have a coach provide perspective from the outside looking in.

How has coaching helped you make a positive impact on your community?

[My coach] helped me see how capable I am.

I now feel more prepared to better communicate with others especially those I engage with on a daily basis (personally or professionally) and to be more aware of who I am as a leader and how I can be most effective.

Coaching has helped shift my perspective on leadership. It dived into my inner values and helped me truly identify alignment and vision for the future.

Share any surprising good or bad effects you noticed while meeting your coaching goals?

Think it will be better if coaches created presentations and/or brought information to share based on participant goals, instead of mainly repeating statements participants make, but the person was nice and polite.

I was surprised at my ability to articulate different points of view and solutions.

How different I am from day one.

How has coaching helped you make a positive impact on your community?

The coaching helped me to share how I have been able to balance grief and loss comfortably with my career as I have healthy coping skills.

Knowing that it is available.

Connecting with my values.

Share any surprising good or bad effects you noticed while meeting your coaching goals?

I noticed that I felt more centered after my coaching sessions. I also felt lighter -- having a safe space to speak and reflect about work dynamics was so helpful. I also found myself trying to spend more time in active resolution and problem solving than dwelling on barriers.

Surprisingly things in my personal life were impacted, which was not my plan/expectation. I had thought to focus on work, but there were sessions where we focused on my personal life and a lot of good things came out of it. There were times I was telling myself certain things that contradicted what I would say I wanted and I realized within that there were times where my personal story was affecting the way I saw life. Improved self-confidence was an area that I didn't expect either. I improved my performance presenting and communicating in intimidating environments.

…I stopped worrying about whether I was doing what others wanted me to. This was a great boost in confidence and leadership, and a great slice through vicious self-doubt.

How has coaching helped you make a positive impact on your community?

Allowed me to be more mindful of my reactions and feelings so that I can better communicate with others, helped me to become more confident as a leader/supervisor and an individual.

Its improved my ability to communicate with my community and to present with confidence and passion. This improved my ability to impact the world around me for the better particularly through my role at a non-profit. Any opportunity we have to share and communicate about human trafficking is an opportunity to change someone’s life.

I have been more effective in helping organize and streamline processes in my company, and more confident in expressing my opinion. This allows me to influence all the strands at 3Strands: employment, education and engagement.
