ICF Sacramento President’s Message

As we welcome a new season our Chapter is thrilled to announce a new member has joined our Leadership Team! Please join me in congratulating Joe Littell for his new position on the ICF Sacramento Board as Professional Development Director effective this month! Joe brings a background in event planning along with a passion for learning and coaching that will serve him well in his new role. Come meet Joe at our next monthly meeting when Coleen Chandler, PCC will help us explore our creativity as coaches, and how to bring out the creativity in our clients.

October is the month we open nominations for next year's Board of Directors. Our President-Elect, Coleen Chandler will be putting together a slate of candidates to present to the Board for the ballot. This is your opportunity to take on a leadership role with our Chapter and contribute to our wonderful community of coaches! What's in it for you? You will have the opportunity to co-create the kind of professional organization you are proud to be part of, and you get to hang out with a pretty incredible group of coaches, too! If you are interested in a role, please contact us at mail@icfsacramento.org to submit your nomination.

After the recent tragedy in Las Vegas, my September message outlining three coping strategies during times of distress seems especially relevant. You can read it Here

I hope to see at our October meeting!

With gratitude,

Tina R. Shaw, ACC
President, ICF Sacramento

Coaching Artists, Performers & High Achievers:
How Coaching Extremes Can Bring Your Clients Back to their Center

What is Creativity Coaching? Have you even heard of it as a coaching specialization or profession

Creativity coaching is a growing field that caters to people’s creativity, artistry and resourcefulness - skills that are more and more in demand in our competitive business world.

Join Coleen Chandler, an experienced Performance and Creativity coach, for a deep dive into the world of coaching artists, performers and high achievers. See how you can incorporate your new knowledge of Creativity coaching in your practice, and prepare to be challenged and inspired as some of your assumptions about coaching creatives may be tested.

Using case studies, you will learn:

1) What Creativity coaching is and the one non-negotiable attribute that all creativity coaches must have to be successful. Tip: this will help bring more creative spunk to your own coaching style and practice.

2) The three powerful words that coaches may shy away from and creative high achievers thrive on. How embracing these words meets your clients where they are and supports their dreams.

3) Coleen's B.E.S.T model that describes the typical coaching arc that takes the client on a healing path from despair to center. Follow this model for your right-brain dominant clients.

4) The accountability structure that works best for highly creative professionals.

By the end of this talk, you will have a better understanding of this field and how to coach creative individuals. And you will be able to incorporate that knowledge into your own coaching practice.

Coleen will be available for Q&A as time allows.

ICF Sacramento Charter Chapter Members and Chapter Affiliates attend Free, but please RSVP.  Guests: Please RSVP and pay guest fees of $15 via PayPal or $20.00 at the door.

SAHRA 2017 Conference

                                ICF SACRAMENTO CHAPTER REPRESENTED

The ICF Sacramento Charter Chapter was represented at this year’s Sacramento Area Human Resource Association’s (SAHRA) 2017 Annual 2-day Conference, where over 250 of the region’s leading human resource professionals and service providers were in attendance.  We were one of 52 exhibitors at the conference and had the great opportunity to introduce others to ICF and what coaching is, as well as a chance to experience it for themselves.

We want to thank those who volunteered their time to man the booth, Dawn Karner, Tina Shaw and Melna Jones.  And, we also want to give a special thanks to April Summerford, ICF Regional Development Manager, for joining us in this effort.

Building a Coaching Culture with Millennial Leaders

Findings from ICF and HCI’s latest research collaboration, Building a Coaching Culture with Millennial Leaders, were released on September 19. The study explores how first-time people managers and emerging leaders —many of whom are Millennials—can benefit from partnering with a coach and receiving training on how to use coaching skills with their peers and teams.
