As We Settle Into the Year: February Events and Ways to Connect

Dear ICF Sacramento Members,

As we move through the beginning of the year, I want you to know what’s been happening behind the scenes. Our new board spent January getting up and running — connecting, aligning, and building a thoughtful plan for the year ahead. It’s been energizing to come together with a shared commitment to serve this chapter well and to create value for you, our members.

We’re excited to begin rolling out our first programs of the year with two new rounds of peer coaching launching in February, along with our February Chapter Meeting, “For the Love of Coaching,” and our February Lunch & Learn, “Coaching in Motion: How to Create Experiential Coaching Programs.”

Chapter Meetings are an opportunity for you to hear what's going on within your chapter and to grow personally and professionally through invited speakers and topics that matter to our membership. Lunch & Learns are for members to share with and learn from each other on a wide variety of coaching-related topics.

We’re also pleased to offer virtual and in-person connection and networking events with our New(ish) Member Welcome, a Coaches' Cafe, and an Outdoor Adventure. You will find all program and event details below. All of these offerings are designed to support you as a coach — whether you’re deepening your craft, growing your business, or simply looking for meaningful conversation with peers who understand this work. Coaching isn’t meant to be practiced alone — come join us!

I also want to take a moment to acknowledge all that’s happening in our community, our state, and our country. As coaches, we care deeply, and we often feel deeply. We spend much of our energy holding space for individuals and organizations navigating fear, uncertainty, and change. In the midst of that, I encourage you to take care of yourself. Make space to recharge, reconnect with what sustains you, and lean into this community when you need connection and support. We’re so glad you’re here.

With appreciation,

Carrie Chown
President, ICF Sacramento

February Connection Events

Next Monday, February 9 from 11:30am–12:30pm PT, we invite our new(ish) members to join us for a virtual welcome meeting. This is a great place to meet other coaches, share thoughts, and ask questions about membership, our chapter, or coaching in general. You’ll meet different people each time you attend, so join as many times as you like!

On Tuesday, February 10 from 6:30pm–8:00pm PT, ICF Sacramento Past President Katie Kanowsky will host our February Chapter Meeting, “For the Love of Coaching.” We'll share what we love about coaching, introduce your 2026 Board of Directors, and lay out our goals for the year. We want to serve you, so please come and let us know what we can do to make this a great year.

Our February Lunch & Learn will be held on Wednesday, February 18 from 12:00pm–1:00pm PT. ICF Sacramento President Carrie Chown will present “Coaching in Motion: How to Create Experiential Coaching Programs.” This session will blend inspiration with practical guidance, supporting coaches who are curious about expanding their offerings while staying aligned with ICF competencies, ethics, and professional standards.

Our next in-person Coaches' Cafe is at Morgan's Mill in Woodland on Tuesday, February 24 from 8:30am–9:30am PT. These are informal gatherings where coaches, potential coaches, and anyone interested in coaching can connect. Please register to let us know you’ll be attending!

Join us for our February Outdoor Adventure at Effie Yeaw Nature Center on Saturday, February 28 from 4:30pm–6:30pm PT. We’re gathering for a late afternoon/early evening of exploration and presence at one of Sacramento’s hidden gems. Experience the magic of connection both with the land and with each other.

Important Note about Recent Phishing Attempts

Some of our members have reported recently receiving unsolicited emails from a party misrepresenting themselves as being associated with ICF Sacramento.

Cyberattacks are a constant and ongoing issue, and one common technique is phishing emails that may appear legitimate at first glance (including appearing to come from a name you recognize at our chapter). Phishing emails are designed to trick the recipient into sending money, sharing personal or financial information, visiting malicious sites, or downloading malware.

ICF Sacramento will never email asking you to send us (or a third party) money via wire transfer or a service such as Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo. We will never ask you to reveal sensitive information such as passwords, credit card number, or account info. We will never email an urgent call to action requesting that you immediately click a link or open an attachment.

If you receive an email that you’re unsure about, first check the sending email address. The screenshot below shows a phishing message received by one of our members. You can see that it was not emailed from our domain, icfsacramento.org.

No matter how authentic a message may look, do not click any of the links or reply to it if something seems off. If you’re uncertain whether or not a message came from us, please call us directly at 916-245-0221‬.

We recommend that you delete phishing messages immediately. You may also report unwanted commercial email solicitations to the Federal Trade Commission. If you use Gmail, you can report spam directly from your computer, phone, or tablet.
