Funcomfortable:
How to Help Your Clients
Break Out of Their Comfort Zones
Date: October 8, 2024
Time: 11:30am - 1:00pm Pacific Time
CCEUs: 1 in Core Competencies and 0.5 in Resource Development
Everything your client wants lies on the other side of discomfort.
Whether it’s overcoming procrastination, giving and receiving honest feedback, or hitting their health goals, the most recent scientific research has shown that embracing discomfort is the key to growth and positive change. The good news is that embracing discomfort is a trainable skill that, with practice, you can help your clients develop.
In this session, you will learn the latest science and practice of:
- Why the brain naturally avoids discomfort.
- How to help your clients do the hard things even when their brain’s telling them to do the opposite.
- Make feedback feel exciting instead of threatening.
- Prioritize fun and wellness to build up your resilience reservoir.
You'll also learn how to use fun as a tool to help your client make hard things more enjoyable by:
- Fun-Fusing: Pairing difficult things with fun things.
- Fun-Framing: Reframing threats to challenges and gamifying difficult tasks.
- Fun-Vesting: Using daily deposits of fun to build stress resilience.
We will end with a workshop teaching you how to:
Build your very own 30-day challenge to learn how to put the science of embracing discomfort into practice.
As you do this, you'll build the experiential skills needed to implement the same kinds of mini-challenges with your clients.
Avoiding discomfort is a common mistake that keeps many of our clients stuck, but if you’re serious about empowering your clients to live the life they've always wanted, skillfully embracing discomfort is where it starts.
