President's Message

October is a busy time for ICF chapters.  We are about to launch the voting process for the upcoming year’s board elections, and we are compiling data to submit our annual chapter reports.  In the midst of the business items, we hosted an in-person networking mixer, and launched the new small group coaching supervision program.

These annual processes and events are part of what keeps the chapter running.  Each year we welcome new members and it can sometimes be a scramble to get up to speed.  During my time on the board, I have had the great privilege of having access to wisdom that reached beyond the standard turnover timelines, however.  I am speaking of getting to work with Coleen Chandler.

Coleen has served on the board since 2015. That’s right.  Seven consecutive years!  She has served as Director of Marketing, President, and created the position of Director of Credentialing, which she has held for the past two years.  Coleen describes her time on the board as “one of the most joyous and enriching journeys” of her life.  With some of her time opened up, she will be shifting her energy to being an ICF mentor coach and to reconnecting with her love of singing, performing, and writing songs.

Please join me in extending gratitude for all her years of service to Coleen next time you see her.  We are a stronger chapter because of her dedication.

Ignite Pro Bono Coaching Update

A big THANK YOU to the 21 ICF Sacramento volunteers who coached clients from Sacramento State University’s Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership!

We are excited about the positive impact we have made with leaders who are transforming education. If you are interested in participating in 2023 coaching engagements, the Ignite Coach Volunteer Form will be sent via email later this year.

Our coaching engagements with the CA Partnership to End Domestic Violence staff are still underway.  Client feedback will be shared in the November newsletter.

Here are a few client comments from our end-of-coaching survey for Sac State:

“My confidence has sky-rocketed and I now have a great career path laid out.”

“Coaching helped me . . . build my linked in profile and learn how to connect with publishers for my upcoming book.”

“My coach took great care to keep our sessions on track. She was clear in her role. I was able to focus on what I said I needed. Her methods were outstanding!”

When asked about the ripple effect of what they gained in coaching and the impact on their organization, clients noted these areas most often:

·   Employee engagement

·   Constituents served better and more fully

·   Progress towards organization’s/department’s metrics/goals
