Presidents Message

Dear ICF Sacramento Community,

Welcome to September 2021.

As the summer days dwindle away, the fall months are drawing closer.  And while it's sad to say goodbye to summertime, the month of September offers the perfect intermediary between the long days of summer and the quickening of autumn.  September is a transitional month for many of us.  The kids go back to school, clients start thinking about their end-of-year goals.  Companies are budgeting for new talent development initiatives and transition has begun for our ICF Sacramento Chapter board

Fall means it is election time.  The election process to fill vacant seats on next year’s ICF Sacramento Charter Chapter’s Board of Directors is now underway!  The ICF Sacramento Board of Directors is seeking diverse leaders and culture-builders with a global mindset, digital transformation expertise, and the motivation to commit to a rewarding volunteer role guiding the strategy to build the future of coaching.

All ICF-credentialed Members in good standing are eligible to apply for a seat on the Board of Directors.

Please note:  The deadline to apply is September 16th at midnight

We have five openings on the ballot:

President-Elect (responsible for supporting the needs of the membership and the members of the board.  The president-elect will succeed the president without election).

Director of Communications (responsible for creating awareness of our coaching profession and chapter, and offerings that bring additional membership value).

Director of Finance/Treasurer (responsible for ensuring the Chapter continuity in financial management, tax reporting and related contract management.  Report on the finances at the Chapter monthly.  In charge of the banking relationship, checkbook and debit card).

Director of Membership (responsible for overseeing the activities related to communication and coordinates with the Director of Strategic Alliances for the chapter and its members).
Director at Large (members at large shall perform other duties and have authority as assigned by the president or board.  Alternatively, with board approval, these board members can be assigned as co-directors for any other director role).

About the Nomination and Election Process

The ICF Sacramento Charter Chapter’s Nominating Committee has identified the following steps in the election for the 2021 Board:

  1. Applications will be accepted through September 16th, 2021.

  2. The Nominating Committee will conduct an initial review of completed applications to narrow the field of applicants based on criteria for Board membership and requirements for the 2022 Board.

  3. If you are selected by the Nominating Committee to move to the next stage, you will be invited to participate in an interview to discuss your experiences and vision for your potential board membership.

  4. Candidates are selected for the ballot based on interview outcomes and consensus by the Nominating Committee. (All applicants will be notified of their status once final ballot selections are made.)

  5. Official ballot goes out to ICF Membership in late October 2021 for a 14-day voting period.

  6. Election results are announced no later than 30 November 2021.

If you are considering running for an ICF Sacramento Board position or if you have high interest in selecting the best leaders for the future of our organization, I encourage you to engage in this very important process to determine the future leadership of our Chapter.  If you have any questions at all regarding the application or election process, please contact your Nominating Committee at mail@icfsacramento.org.

We have so many talented and gifted members who have stepped in to serve over the years, if joining our board feels like a calling for you, we encourage you to throw your hat in the ring!

Credentialing

Are you having difficulties navigating the rules and requirements of the ICF Global credentialing process?

Do you have questions about renewing your credential or applying for a new one?

Help is on the way.

Coleen Chandler, PCC, created the new position of Credentialing Director to help ICF Sacramento chapter members with all their credentialing questions.

A typical conversation with Coleen may center on:

  • Clarifying the validity of coaching training hours for renewal or acquisition of a new credential - depending on where and when they were obtained

  • Explaining the various requirements to apply for a credential via the three credentialing paths (ACTP, ACSTH and Portfolio). Each case is different and may require adjustments.

  • Answering questions about either renewing one’s credential or going for the next credential level

  • Providing tips and explanation about the Coaching Knowledge Assessment (CKA)

  • Going over the members’ CCE units to make sure they have the proper combination of CCEUs to qualify to renew their credential

  • What to do if a credential has expired

“My mission is to make the credentialing process simpler and more enjoyable”, says Coleen. “And I love helping ICF Sacramento members grow professionally, and gain the confidence and knowledge to move forward in their credentialing journey.”
