Presidents Message

Dear ICF Sacramento community

Welcome to June 2021!

Wallace Stevens said, “The summer night is like a perfection of thought.”

What a great reminder to take the long days of June to slow down and think.  Take some time to think about what you really want to do and be, and get inspired by the beautiful, long days of June.

This month it’s time to check in on the goals you set for this year and prioritize your time, and then truly enjoy the most important things, do all the things that you’ve been dreaming about during the long cold months of winter and months of social distancing.

We have some amazing programs lined up:

June 8th is our Monthly Chapter Meeting at 6:30 pm.  This month we welcome business extraordinaire, Caterina Rando for a perspective on selling that will make it easy for you to enjoy every sales conversation.  This will result in you gaining more clients more easily.

On June 17th we will continue our Core Competencies exploration with Bethanie Hansen.  This month’s focus in on, “Cultivates Trust and Safety”.

We will wrap up June’s chapter events on June 23 with our Lunch and Learn.

We at the ICF Sacramento chapter hope you find something that will truly inspire your summer and further your growth as a coach!

Sincerely,
Laurie Cozart
President @ ICF Sacramento

International Coaching Week Recap

ICW 2021 - A Worldwide Success

The pandemic and the subsequent social distancing of our society has posed many challenges while also offering new ways to come together.

These changes allowed this year's International Coaching Week (ICW) to be like no other before.

We had a dynamic panel discussion on all things coaching-related.  Our topics covered information that would be helpful for individuals looking for a personal coach, organizations (or leaders within) looking for ways to support their company goals while increasing employee well-being, as well as important information for people interested in joining the coaching industry.  If you couldn't attend but don't want to miss out recordings will be posted on our YouTube page on June 18th.  These conversations are fantastic resources to share with friends, family, and colleagues who are curious about coaching and want to learn more.

In the laser coaching segment of ICW we had people from all over the globe, including Kenya, Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Poland, India, Lebanon, and Romania, not to mention many attendees from around the United States.

Each participant had at least 3 coaching sessions with different coaches and gained amazing amounts of clarity and awareness in a short amount of time while also getting a feel for different styles and personalities.

This year's ICW helped remind us that while we are a local chapter, we are a part of a global movement where coaching has the ability to transform lives everywhere.

Thank you to all who attended, and a special thank you to our members and directors that stepped up to help Katie Kanowsky, and Steve Matthews put on such a wonderful event for our chapter.

Credentialing

Are you having difficulties navigating the rules and requirements of the ICF Global credentialing process?

Do you have questions about renewing your credential or applying for a new one?

Help is on the way.

Coleen Chandler, PCC, created the new position of Credentialing Director to help ICF Sacramento chapter members with all their credentialing questions.

A typical conversation with Coleen may center on:

  • Clarifying the validity of coaching training hours for renewal or acquisition of a new credential - depending on where and when they were obtained

  • Explaining the various requirements to apply for a credential via the three credentialing paths (ACTP, ACSTH and Portfolio). Each case is different and may require adjustments.

  • Answering questions about either renewing one’s credential or going for the next credential level

  • Providing tips and explanation about the Coaching Knowledge Assessment (CKA)

  • Going over the members’ CCE units to make sure they have the proper combination of CCEUs to qualify to renew their credential

  • What to do if a credential has expired

“My mission is to make the credentialing process simpler and more enjoyable”, says Coleen. “And I love helping ICF Sacramento members grow professionally, and gain the confidence and knowledge to move forward in their credentialing journey.”
