Presidents Message

Dear ICF Sacramento Community:

Happy April!  I hope this message finds you excited about the possibilities of Spring.

Brene’ Brown recently said “True belonging is not passive”.  Those words resonate with me when I think of this wonderful community that has grown, evolved and is highly engaged in making our chapter a place for belonging.

I am so proud to share with all of you a quick quarterly update providing timelines and outcomes, of the new initiatives we have been working on for you.

Your board has spent time methodically and intentionally planning new offerings that support our members.  I appreciate our boards willingness to work as a nimble start up organization who is able to innovate and prototype initiatives quickly.  We chose this approach to best serve you.  This approach allows us to stay current, proactive and in tune with the heart of you and your needs.

The strategic filter for every new initiative is that it must be tied to Coach More, Coach Better, Coach Connect these three things create the foundation of Connect, Contribute and Thrive.

We will begin structuring and institutionalizing the process for each proof of concept initiative second quarter in order to continue to serve our members at the highest level.

Ignite Initiative

"ENGAGING COACHING FOR HUMANITY AND THE PLANET"

Calling all coaches

Are you looking for a way to gain coaching hours and make a difference in the world at the same time? Our chapter is embarking upon an exciting effort to support local non-profit organizations through pro bono coaching. This offers our membership exciting opportunities to coach more, coach better, and connect with each other and with leaders in our region.

What is the Ignite Initiative?

Contributing to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the Ignite Initiative provides coaches all over the world with an opportunity to help accelerate and amplify social progress through volunteer leadership coaching for organizations that tackle some of the most challenging issues of our time, including education, poverty alleviation, and climate change. Our chapter can play a role regionally in partnering for global impact.

Save the date:  International Coaching Week 2021 Events

During International Coaching Week 2021 (May 17-23, 2021), the International Coaching Federation (ICF) will invite individuals and organizations from around the world to explore “Defying Challenging Times.” Here’s what our chapter is doing to celebrate ICW 2021 with your help:

  • The Sacramento Chapter will be hosting a virtual coaching symposium on Thursday, May 20th. This event will have 3 parts covering the perspectives and FAQs of potential clients, organizations, and aspiring coaches. The intention is to ENGAGE and EDUCATE people who don’t know what coaching is all about.

  • We all know that learning about coaching is far different from the EXPERIENCE of coaching. On Friday and Saturday (21st & 22nd) we will host a public event that will enable individuals to ‘Experience Coaching’ and its benefits firsthand.

  • Sunday it is time to CELEBRATE! This day is for you! We want to honor and recognize our members for all YOU do for our chapter! There were be door prizes, awards, and lots of fun to be had!

Many coaches struggle to get coaching hours in the early days after completing their coach training. Challenges can include: balancing coaching with a full-time job and/or family responsibilities, lack of confidence in presenting yourself as a coach, transitioning from being in a coach community to feeling adrift after classes end, feeling overwhelmed with uncertainty around questions of pricing, niche, and more.

It’s easy to lose steam, feel overwhelmed, or discouraged when you're starting out.

This series will help you continue forward to reach your goal.

You are a valued member of ICF Global and ICF Sacramento Charter Chapter, we're excited about what 2021 has in store for those of us who choose to rejoin ICF for another year:

  • Chapter Meetings - where you can gather (online for now), connect, learn, and earn CCEU’s.

  • Core Competency Tele-Class – where you can earn additional CCEU's and recommit to the core competencies of our profession.

  • Lunch N' Learns - where coaches come together (online for now) to exchange awesome ideas and encourage one another.
